Panthers Sign Former BYU Speedster and Man Who Destroyed Tennessee, Micah Simon
/The Panthers picked up former BYU receiver, Micah Simon, today. Simon went undrafted last season, partly in part of him being unable to hold a Pro Day because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Perhaps best known for a monster game against Tennessee in 2019, Simon worked out at this year’s BYU Pro Day, where most of the spotlight was on quarterback Zach Wilson. The 6-1 almost 200-pound receiver ran a 4.34/40-yard dash. He may as well have run right into the Panthers’ receiver room because the team promptly offered Simon a contract.
Simon is most-known for his performance against Tennessee where he both demolished the Volunteers secondary and was instrumental to their last-moment comeback. With just 17 seconds left, trailing three, “Zach Wilson found Micah Simon who was wide-open for a 64-yard gain that brought BYU to the Tennessee 16-yard line. BYU found itself relying on Oldroyd, the freshman phenom, who remained perfect by hitting a field goal from 33-yards out with one second left on the clock, tying the game 16-16.” Simon finished the game with 7 receptions for 127 yards.
