C3 Minter League Wrap-up: Week 2

After two weeks, only three of twelve teams remain undefeated in the C3 Minter league. However, just like our Carolina Panthers, more time needs to pass until we realize which teams are legitimate contenders.

The Rankings:

1. Not So Lazy Susans- Susan Tucker (2-0)

The reigning C3FF champion has claimed the top spot in our league. Last week she was led by Ben Roethlisberger’s 31 points and and Juilan Edelman’s 27.5. The scary part is that she’s winning with players like TY Hilton and Delanie Walker on the bench; she also has two high ceiling players in Devin Funchess and Dorial Green-Beckham stashed on her roster. As a 21 point favorite this week, expect her to continue her winning ways.

2. Snakes and Sparklers- Corey Hazelwood (2-0)

Corey is looking pretty smart right now for drafting the dynamic duo of Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady, as the two combined for their second straight 50+ point performance. This week he takes on a winless team in Aussie Super Fly. He is currently an 8 point favorite, but the Aussie got a solid 12 point performance from Jordan Reed on Thursday night.

3. Green Eggs and Cam- Grant Hughes (2-0)

Rounding out the top 3 is yours truly. Although I came out with a victory last week, all is not well with the current state of my team. Tony Romo, my lone quarterback, suffered an injury and is out 8 weeks. Outside of him, two of my marque players in Jordan Matthews and Demarco Murray are being hindered by a lackluster offense. I’ve been scrambling with several trade proposals and the addition of two QBs. Hopefully I can keep squeaking out victories, as I am a 3 point favorite this week.

4. All Hail NippleShorts- Bryan Palmese (1-1)

After starting the season out with a win, Bryan took a step backwards by suffering a 10 point loss to Team trupanthersfan. Despite having two players finishing with 20+ points, he was ultimately done in by Mike Evans’ and Keenan Allen’s two goose eggs. Making matters more disappointing is the fact that Allen Robinson (33 points) and Eric Decker (19 points) were left on his bench. His team looks to get even stronger with the addition of Arian Foster here soon.

5. Team LCIII- Lou Clark (1-1)

Lou won the closest game of week two with a tiny 1.5 point victory over Aussie Super Fly. Antonio Brown’s 32.5 points made up over a third of his final score. Even though he is listed as a 26 point favorite, his task of going above .500 got a little more difficult with Drew Brees sitting it out this Sunday.

6. My Dog Ate Your Vick- Melissa Russell (1-1)

The middle of the pack is not the worst place to be, especially with a team that looks to peak at just the right time. Led by the 55 points of her Cardinal duo in Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald, Melissa was able to pick up her first victory last week. It’s anyone’s game in her matchup against All About The Benjamins, she sits as a 1.2 point underdog.

7. Pimpin’ Ain’t Ealy- Jacob Powell (1-1)

Jacob took his first loss of the season last week, but I wouldn't expect many more from his team. He gets Le’Veon Bell back this week to round out a really good trio with Julio Jones and Alshon Jeffrey. It must be hard setting his roster; he has an embarrassment of riches with Jonathan Stewart, TJ Yeldon, Stevie Johnson, Jarvis Landry, and John Brown all worthy of a starting spot, I guess that’s a good problem to have.

8. Team trupanthersfan- Brandon Truesdale (1-1)

Brandon was able to pull out his first victory of the season on the back’s of Cam Newton’s 28 points, Odell Beckham Jr.’s 29.5 points, and Torrey Smith’s 29 points. Mr. Truesdale will look to add another win this week, and he’s gotten off to a good start with 16.5 points from OBJ on Thursday.

9. HaHa Can’t Funchess- Nicholas Campo (1-1)

As last week’s low scorer, he was the only team to finish in the sub 90s, and posted an abysmal score of 61.5. This was more of a fluke, and has a solid team overall. He takes on the the reigning champ this week, and starts off as a 21 point underdog, can he dethrone the queen? Let’s wait and see.

10. All About The Benjamins- Dave P (0-2)

Despite posting the third highest score last week, he got the unlucky draw of playing the team with the highest. I’m sure Dave breathed a sigh of relief after Adrian Peterson’s 100+ yard performance, his first round pick needs to start playing like one if he wants to start winning some games.

11. Aussie Super Fly- Stuart Beadel (0-2)

If the injury bug was a mosquito, Stu would be itching all over. With Andre Ellington and Dez Bryant down, Stu has had to look to their running mates in Chris Johnson and Terrence Williams for some relief. He has a good team, and will only get better when the league’s best wide receiver Dez Bryant returns from injury.

12. Big Rookie J- Joan Ellis (0-2)

Coming in at last place is the fantasy rook. Despite owning the game’s best quarterback in Aaron Rodgers, Joan has been unable to buy a win thus far. This week she takes me on, and looks for her first win. ESPN projects it to be a close one, as she is a three point underdog. Hopefully her first win comes a little later, at least for my sake.

Mini-Awards:

The Marcus Allen: Bryan Palmese-  The benching of Allen Robinson left 33 points on the bench and put a check in the loss column.

Line Buster: Corey Hazelwood- Despite being a 13.6 point underdog, Corey pulled off a 31.5 point win.

Truest To Name: Brandon Truesdale- His team name says he’s a true Panthers fan, and his 40 points from his starting trio of Panthers backs it up.

Stud to Dud: Joan Ellis- The dud isn't really Joan, it’s her running back in CJ Anderson. After finishing the final eight games last season with nearly 900 yards and 10 touchdowns, expectations were high for Anderson. Through two games this year, he has failed to post 100 yards on the ground and doesn't have a touchdown to his name. Though it’s way too early to panic, he has been a disappointment thus far.

Check back next week for more on the Minter League.
