C3 Mock 3.0: Picks 49-56

Draft week is here, and C3’s Mock Draft 3.0 is here.  This version takes is our final version and is our predictions of what we think will happen. Smokewagon is back making his picks along with me in the First Round.  We each give insight as to why we think each one makes sense.  As usual, we look at some of these selections from a Panthers Fan point of view, but no matter who you are a fan of, take a look and let us know your thoughts.  You can follow me on twitter at @PanthersDrafter and Smokewagon (@SamSslater96)

Jamaal Charles will be smiling at this pick.  In 2014, the Chiefs Guards ranked 64th and 78th out of 78 according to PFF.  KC has gone out and traded for Ben Grubbs from the Saints and took Rodney Hudson’s replacement (Cameron Erving) in the first.  Tre Jackson was an All-American, is familiar with Erving, and just makes too much sense here.

With the blockbuster trade of Kiko Alonso for Shady McCoy, there leaves a need for Rex Ryan to bring in a new young LB.  Dawson should be that guy.  He’s a playmaker that plays very well between the Tackles and fills running lanes well.  He ran a pedestrian 40 at the Combine but plays very instinctively and is just a good football player.

Long time Texan, Andre Johnson is now a Colt.  And they need some new blood at the position.  Smith is a burner with good size and can play outside.  He is a big play receiver that averaged 27 plus yards per reception.  Brett Hundley has to be in play here too.

Wow, Hundley fell like a rock but is in the ideal landing spot.  His athleticism is going to really propel him in Chip Kelly’s system.  10 rushing TDs has to have Kelly excited.  I honestly see the Eagles trading up for him back into the end of the first round to get him, but we aren’t doing trades in this mock.

With 19 Free Agents, the Bengals could go in a number of directions.  Jermaine Gresham will not be back and having the big and talented Funchess drawing defenders will only help the Bengals Offense.

Top 20 talent falls to 54 after DUI arrest.  But make no mistake, Williams is a very good football player.  He has visited with the Lions and since they have missed out on their targeted RBs, PJ is the selection.

Reggie Bush is not coming back and that leaves only Joique Bell.  Coleman is a big back that will change the look of the LIons Backfield.  He has visited the team and it won’t surprise me in the least if he’s the pick.

It was a shock to me to see the Cardinal Defensive Backs play so inconsistently.  And Antonio Cromartie will be following his Defensive Coordinator to the Jets.  The Cardinals need talent back there to after addressing their pass-rush in the first round.  And Ronald Darby is a vastly underrated DB that I suspect will go no later than this spot and would be a welcomed addition to the Cards.

The Steelers try to makeover of their Front Seven.  McCarthy is one big dude (6’4 / 331lbs)  If the Steelers don’t take him, look for the Ravens to to replace Ngata.  But that comes into play here too.  Good pick to add heft to the steel curtain.
