Carolina Will Be Starting Two Rookie Corners By Week 8

As bold as this sounds, I think by week 8 Carolina will start two rookie corners on the outside. Both James Bradberry and Daryl Worley have the size, length, and speed to thrive in Carolina’s defense, and from what reports show, both are very aggressive. One report noted that Bradbury may be more aggressive than Norman. During OTAs, both have seen a number of first team reps in hopes of finding out who is best suited to start Week 1.

I feel Worley is currently the more refined player, but Bradbury has a brighter future ahead of him. That all being said, I feel our week one starter will be Bradbury because he’s seen more first teams reps, signaling Carolina is trying to get him up to speed quickly. Bradbury comes from a small school, so he will need more reps. OTAs, however, help corners a ton because there isn’t a real pass rush to help shorten the window of coverage. It’s them in tight coverage or a bunch of tweets talking about receivers burning the babies.

By Week 8, maybe even earlier, we will see both Bradberry and Worley starting. Both of these guys will grow up quickly when having to practice vs some of the league's best WRs every day! Not for this to seem like a knock on Bene Benwikere, who we all know I am a big fan of, but I think he will be used all around as a backup who can play all three corner positions. His role will be vital in giving rookies some rest all around.

Carolina is a zone team that has a great pass rush. Corners are not as vital for stellar play when you give the QB no time to throw, but they still need to play like NFL corners and keep the ball in front of them. All three of the guys drafted play the ball well and understand the importance of getting their hands on the ball and either securing it or making sure it hits the ground and not the opposition's hands. Despite concerns about the loss of Josh Norman, I think Carolina will be just fine with having two rookie starters.
