Ejiro Evero Hired as Panthers Defensive Coordinator

Frank Reich said his first order of business was putting together one of the leagues best coaching staffs. It was largely his plan and ability to put together a top-staff that reportedly separated him from other, less-experienced candidates. Hiring Ejiro Evero as defensive coordinator was a big-step in assembling that elite level coaching staff.

Evero, who interviewed for the Panthers head-coaching position, was released from his contract with Denver at his request. Evero wanted a change of scenery and a fresh start. Maybe he was tired of seeing Pat Mahomes and Justin Herbert twice a year. Perhaps, he was tired by the dysfunction in Denver last year and the circus that has emerged surrounding Sean Payton.

Evero brings 15-years of coaching experience to Carolina. He was able to field a top-10 defense in his first year as Denver’s defensive coordinator, in spite of an offense that couldn’t put up any points. Prior to Denver, Evero spent five years with the Rams. Evero brings youth and experience all in one to Carolina.

Great hire by Frank Reich.
