Buffalo Bills at Carolina Panthers Betting Odds

The Panthers are 7 point favorites in their home opener against the Buffalo Bills. The over/under is 43. Both teams covered the spread last week. The Bills handled the -6 line over the Jets and the Panthers the -4.5 over the 49ers. Both games went under. I don't expect this week's match being a high scorer either. Both teams like to run the ball and pride themselves with defensive play. The Bills will be especially motivated because of the connections between the two teams, Head Coach Sean McDermott was the Panthers defensive coordinator last season and there are several players that traveled with him and former Panthers Assistant General Manager, now Bills General Manager, Brandon Beane. It wouldn't be surprising for this game to be a defensive affair early, where Carolina pulls ahead after that nostalgic energy subsides among the Buffalo Bills.

Unlike last week where both teams had better friendly lines, 7 points is a big spread for two teams who have such an intimate knowledge of each other and look to win with their defense. I think Carolina covers the seven points, but I don't feel comfortable enough to wager on it. If I was forced to choose, I'd take Carolina giving up the points and the under, however.
