Panthers Sign Trai Turner to 4-yr Extension

Lost in all the distraction surrounding Dave Gettleman's firing is that work still is being done in the background. Trai Turner announced that he had reached an agreement with the Carolina Panthers for a 4-yr contract extension. The figures have yet to have been released. Clearly, these negotiations were taking place before Gettleman's departure and this seems to be the manifestation of that work.

Trai Turner is arguably Gettleman's best draft pick aside from Kawann Short in 2012. The 3rd round selection of Carolina's 2014 draft made the Pro Bowl in 2016 after being instrumental in Carolina's success in that historic 2015 15-1 regular season. Turner returned to the Pro Bowl again in 2017 as an alternate.

This is an important signing that will help to anchor that offensive line that has struggled to find consistency in the past. We will be following the details of the deal once they are released.
