Mel's 64 is my take on who the top 64 players entering the draft are and commentary on each as to how they may or may not fit with Carolina. Come back often as the order will change as players declare or return to school. Combine and workout results will change things too. Hope you enjoy!

49) PJ Williams FSU CB 6’0/195

Mel’s Take- Ran a 4.57 40, otherwise he would be higher on my list. Very good athlete that has shown the ability to play both press-man coverage and an off-man zone scheme as well. Very fluid athlete that can keep up with elite receivers. Very good size as well. Needs to increase his strength but looks to be very good and versatile in the NFL. Would be a great choice for the Panthers. Especially a good pick if there is not going to be an elite pass-rush anymore and the DBs are going to be asked to do more. Check out what he has to say when asked about his style of play. Williams, Norman and Stiki Wiki at Nickel is a formidable trio. An ideal pick at Pick 57.

50) Ronald Darby FSU CB 5’11/190

Mel’s Take- Ran a 4.34 at the Combine and that may shoot him up higher on Draft Boards. Great coverage skills and speed. Has shown great improvement in ‘14 over ‘13. Would be nice to have such a talent in the Defensive Backfield and would address the need for speed.

51)J Jake Fisher Oregon LOT 6’6/ 303

Mel’s Take- I really like Fisher and he shined at the Combine. Ran the 40 in 5.01 and benched 225 lbs 25 times. I think he’s he is similar to Jordan Gross. He's big, athletic and plays with a nasty streak. He is athletic enough to both pass protect and get out to the second level in the run game. He also blocked for an athletic QB which will translate well to the Panthers Offense. a First Round talent that may still be there at 57.

52) Jalen Collins LSU CB 6'1/ 195

Mel’s Take- Perfect size for a CB and has tantalizing possibilities. Ran a 4.43 at Combine which is very impressive. Long Corner that could do well. May go in First Round due to measurables. But could have used another year in school in my view.

53) Anthony Harris Virginia SS 6’1/190

Mel’s Take- Ran a 4.56 at the Combine which is good for a Safety and especially at this size. Anthony has very solid size for a SS and led the nation with 8 INTs in 2013. Has a knack to make game changing plays and could sneak into the top of the Second Round. I would like to see a nastier side of him but is a playmaker. Would be a good replacement for Roman Harper.

54) Daniel Hunter LSU DE 6’5/252

Mel’s Take- Ran a blazing 4.57 at the Combine. Looks to be a strong fit as an edge ruser in a 34 Defense to me. Good looking prospect that had 13.5 tackles for a loss in 2014. But would be a situational Pass Rusher for the Panthers. Most likely going to a Green Bay or Pittsburgh type D.

55) Hau’oli Kikaha Washington OLB34 6’3/ 250

Mel’s Take-- Was sick at Combine and did not run the 40 but competed in other drills. Pro Day will be big for him. An edge-rushing and tackling machine. Speed rusher yet good size to also set the edge. Two ACL tears and other nagging injuries may push his stock down a bit. Seen more as a 34 LB so probably not a fit for Carolina. Look for Green Bay, or an AFC North team to target him.

56) Cedric Ogbuehi Texas A&M LOT 6’2/215

Mel’s Take- If not for the torn ACL, he most likely would be considered the cream of the crop in this year’s OT class. Prototypical size. Long arms, very quick and establishes his position very well. Would like to see a nastier streak and will have to finish plays better in the Pros. Was moved to RT as Sr. but was more for team needs. Has all the tools to be a top 15 LOT in NFL. He will make an QB and run game better right away. Cam would love to see this guy fall to the Panthers. I also like that he is a fifth-year Senior and has played multiple positions along the line. Would need to sign someone in FA and perhaps even Byron Bell for one year while Cedric rehabs the knee
