Luke Kuechly Protects The “W”

Carolina Panthers v Tampa Bay Buccaneers
September 7, 2014
Panthers Win 20-14

Luke Kuechly is not only the best defensive player in the NFL but he is also the best defender when it comes to protecting your house. I know the Carolina Panthers played in Tampa Bay but that CPI commercial is hilarious! I wouldn’t want to get hit by Luke, would you? Josh McCown will be looking over his shoulder when he comes to visit the Panthers in Charlotte on December 14th.

Luke Kuechly is the leader of the Panthers defense and it showed today!

The Carolina Panthers were winning 17-14 in the 4th quarter with under 2 minutes left in the game and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were driving down the field one last time. As a Panthers fan I was worried, but why? The Panthers have one of the best defenses in the NFL and perform very well under pressure.
Do you remember the play the sealed the victory for the Carolina Panthers?
There was 1:36 left on the clock and the Buccaneers were at their 27 yard line. Josh McCown drops back and throws it to Bobby Rainey for 2 yards. “Mr. Defensive Player of the Year” chases Rainey down like a fat man, chasing a big piece of cake. Luke rips the ball out and Benwikere jumps on it, the Carolina Panthers recover the fumble, sealing the 20-14 victory!

The Carolina Panthers start the 2014 NFL season undefeated and ahead of the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South standings! The Saints lost earlier in the day to the Atlanta Falcons in overtime 37-34.

The Carolina Panthers Defense recorded: 3 Sacks & 7 QB Hits.

Luke Kuechly finished the day with 9 total tackles, 1 FF and 1 sack. After seeing his stats from the first game of the season, he could repeat as Defensive Player of the Year. According to sources, the only player to ever do this since 1971 was Lawrence Taylor, receiving the award in 1981 and 1982.

So NFL teams and fans…. what should you learn from this article?
Do not doubt the Carolina Panthers and especially do not doubt the defense. The front seven shut down the run game and put pressure on the quarterback all day. Also, the secondary played very well by holding the Buccaneers to only 183 receiving yards. The additions to our secondary in the offseason paid off by picking off McCown twice.

The media talks very highly about the Seattle Seahawks defense all the time but the Panthers do not get any respect. I can’t wait for Panthers versus Seahawks match-up on October 26. It will be a defensive battle filled with hard hits and bloody noses.

By the way… Great game Derek Anderson!!!
