Panthers Release Kugbila and Sign Chas Alecxih
Despite lore developing around Dave Gettleman, not every draft pick works out. Today, the Carolina Panthers announced they had released former 4th round draft pick, Edmund Kugbila. The Valdosta St. Blazer never saw the field, spending his two season on injured reserve. The big man from a little school must have not demonstrated enough improvement either physically or simply the coaching staff didn't think he could be caught up on all the missed time to warrant a spot on the 90-man roster.
As they announced Kugbila's departure, the Carolina Panthers signed former Pittsburgh Panther Chas Alecxih, who has seen his name on the Dolphin, Chiefs, and Chargers rosters over the last three seasons. Alecxih, who has the worst Twitter handle (BigSpurts98), has also yet to play in a professional football game. He won't make the 53-man roster likely, but his signing does suggest Carolina is interested in beefing up defensive depth on the practice squad.
