Carolina Panthers Salary Cap Future Strong According to Expert
Salary cap expert Jason Fitzgerald shared a revealing graph describing NFL teams’ near-turn outlook. The Panthers, according to Fitzgerald, are “in a strong position with the cap next year and can decide between free agency or extending their own to improve.”
Implications for the Panthers:
This is good news and means promptly extending Brian Burns before the season starts. Burns, who is critical to the Panther’s defense, will command top-tier money. Additionally, Carolina’s advantageous cap situation positions them to extend players like Derrick Brown next year, further strengthening their core. There will be other decisions Carolina will face, such as picking up Jaycee Horn’s fifth-year option and what to do with Jeremy Chinn. The Panthers at least have the resources to make those moves wisely rather than wildly.
The team is primed to build upon their successes and establish themselves as a formidable force in the league.
