Panthers Leading Suitors for Safety TJ Ward
Carolina's secondary is the thinnest unit on the Panthers defense. Injuries, and the subsequent release of Zack Sanchez, Teddy Williams, and LJ McCray, left the Panthers with only one reserve safety in Colin Jones. The current secondary is really one injury away from disaster.
Today, Pro Bowl strong safety hit market after Denver was forced to release the high profile veteran after failing ro find a trade partner. Players of Ward's caliber don't come available often this late free agency, but when they do, teams tend to jump on them quickly. We saw that when Joe Haden signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers within 12 hours of being released by the Cleveland Browns.
Carolina, along with Pittsburgh, has shown interest in Ward. Early reports suggest the Panthers may be the favorites in the TJ Ward lottery at this point.
