Keuchly Had a Concussion and Then He Didn't
In Thursday night's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Luke Kuechly left the game after being ear-holed on a vicious block. He did not return and was placed in the concussion protocol after being diagnosed by team doctors and embedded neurological specialist.
The following day, Defensive Coordinator, Steve Wilkes, remarked that Kuechly was "fine." I didn't get to see the context of the comments, but it seemed a little odd given that Kuechly suffered his third concussion in three seasons. At a time that people are starting to worry about Kuechly's long-term health and the wisdom of him playing football in general, he's "fine?"
This morning Adam Schefter reported that Kuechly avoided a concussion entirely, suggesting that Thursday's diagnosis was more precautionary than a full-fledged diagnosis. Things are a little murky at the moment. Carolina responded to Schefter's reports stating that Kuechly is still in the protocol, but they didn't deny the report entirely.
