Fletcher Cox Payday Ensures No Short Change for Kawann
News just broke that Fletcher Cox has reached an agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Now these are initial numbers, but they are still big. While the $63 million guaranteed money may be calculated in so many different ways, this is still a mega deal. If anything, it shows that Malik Jackson's deal wasn't enough to slow the defensive tackle's value appreciation that began with Ndamukong Suh.
All this means a big payday for Carolina Panthers defensive tackle, Kawann Short, who is entering the final year of his rookie. Short is coming off a monster year himself, which puts him in the conversation with all of these guys. Kawann won't get short-changed in the end, but these numbers raise more questions if it will be with Carolina. BBR's Bill Voth questioned immediately if a mortgage payment like this would even be a consideration for Panther GM, Dave Gettleman.
We'll be watching the details of this deal closely as they unfold. I can't imagine Short, his agent, and Dave Gettleman won't be either.
