Dave Gettleman Looked to Small Schools for Big Men
Panthers’ GM Dave Gettleman hasn’t been shy about his love for large men. He jokes about himself being one of them and that it is these big men who win at football. He’s gone large and fast at every possible position. He drafted a mammoth of a man in Kelvin Benjamin, and then surrounded him with a bunch of skyscrapers in Devin Funches and Stephen Hill. He likes the big defensive ends like Kony Ealy and Charles Johnson, and his prized possession, the hog mollies--Star Lotulelei and Kawann Short.
This year Gettleman once again looked fill the stable with big, athletic guys. He combed the earth this year and found his big guys in the small schools. We starting to wonder if the secret goal is to build, literally, the largest football team in history.

Zach Sanchez, Oklahoma (Big 12, 29,000) - 5’11/185

Undrafted Rookie Free Agents- Every UDRFA was over 6’. Two notables as well, Keyarris Garrett and Jeremy Cash. Garrett was the most productive receiver in college last season and Cash was slated to go in the 4th or 5th round. He slipped because of his tweener size and the way he was used at Duke, which was more in a up-at-the line safety playing like a linebacker.
