C3FF Minter League Week 8 Recap

Sorry for the late posting of last week's Minter League recap, but this week has been inordinately busy for me. Hopefully, things get back more normal next week.

As for results, well, Let's just say I changed my team name to reflect the outcomes of my season:

Team Summertime, and the Livins Ezek defeated newly-named, now-accurate team Sans Luck (my team), 119-107.

Summertime got a 2016-best fantasy output from our own Jonathan Stewart, who led his team with 26.5 FP. Rookie phenom Zeke Elliott, a common name among fantasy leaderboards this year, wasn't too far behind with 20 FP. WR A.J. Green followed up with 17.5 FP.

For team Sans Luck, I got 20.5 FP from TE Travis Kelce while QB Drew Brees had an average game (for him) with 20. WR Stefon Diggs tallied 17 FP while my best value WR drafted, Michael Crabtree, continued his good scoring with 15 FP.

I'm now 3-5 in H2H match-ups despite leading my division (still) with 994 FP scored. The problem is completely out of my hands as week after week, players have career games when in my opponent's lineup, with 982.5 FP against...something I have zero control over. This week is more of the same, with my opponent scoring 55.5 FP on Thursday night, having Julio Jones and Mike Evans each facing lousy defenses.

Frankly speaking, I give up with head to head scoring since so much luck is involved. Roll the dice, move your mice. Whatever. It's very frustrating to have the highest-scoring team in the entire division and be tied for 4th place. I'm not even going to bother to get a kicker to start in place of Dustin Hopkins, who is on a bye this week.

In a couple of other close contests, Make America Great aGinn defeated I'maClassicCam, 123-115.

MAGA had a great outing from Derek Carr, which wasn't unusual facing Tampa Bay's horrible defense, scoring a whopping 39 FP. Carr had 513 yards passing and 4 TDs though, so don't get used to such high numbers each week, but there's that Tampa Bay excuse for a defense popping up aGinn....

MAGA also got 27 FP from Matt Forte as well as 22 from Melvin Gordon. He certainly has strong play from the RB position overall.

Ima ClassicCam fought hard but came up short. DeMarco Murray had 23.5 FP while the Broncos D/ST had 22...a bit unusual for a high-scorer to be a team D, but that's what you get sometimes with better defensive teams like the Vikings and Broncos. Terrelle Pryor added 16 FP and is one of the NFL's WRs that looks to be a top-ten fantasy player especially in the second half of the season as he acclimates to changes in the coaching staff from last year.

Cleveland's 0-8 start also means tons of targets for the 6'6" fleet-footed athletic former QB.

In the 3rd of 3 contests, BortleMilk Biscuits defeated Team Truesdale, 117.5-109.5 in a very, very close match-up.

BB had a wild scoring week as it seemed a boom or bust proposition for any given starter. Frank Gore aside with 13 FP, everyone either scored 20 or more or fewer than 5 FP. Wow.

His namesake, Blake Bortles, had 30 FP in a loss at Tennessee. Devonta Freeman had 21 FP at home against a shaky Packers defense, and Rob Gronkowski was, well, normal Gronk. He's unstoppable when healthy. Dex Bryant showed up in yet another disappointing fantasy season for him with 20 FP.

Yes, this has been a very frustrating fantasy season for me and has me questioning whether or not it's even worth the time to invest in something that, ultimately, one has very little control over. It's not unusual for a player or two here & there to have an outlier game to the upside, but it has been going on all season against me & just seems to be kinda pointless to worry about it at this stage.

That said, hopefully I'll be back on-track next week with a more timely recap, since schools are closed (mine is, anyway) for Election Day. I'm still happy to do what I can to make sure everyone else is having a good experience. Apparently though, facing me in C3FF gives my opponent a boost of sorts. Snake eyes again!

I just hope campaign 2020 gives us ALL a respite for at least a few weeks before ramping up!
