According to WSOCTV, Carolina Panthers receiver, Stephen Hill, was cited for drug paraphernalia possession Tuesday afternoon.

Hill has been a controversial figure among Panthers fans even without making the active roster.  There are those of us who have hoped he will find a spot on Carolina's active roster, and others who believe him to be a bust and certain camp cut.  News of this citation two days before training camp immediately raises questions of Hill's future in Carolina.

Initial fan reactions believe this to mean he has punched his ticket out of Carolina already.

Lacking more details than the above reports, my guess is that Hill was cited for marijuana paraphernalia charges, which is a Class 3 misdemeanor punishable by a simple fine.  As long as Hill hasn't been convicted of three or more previous offenses, a fine is the maximum punishment he could face.  It's a negligible transgression that merits a negligible punishment.  Given Frank Alexander is still on the roster after multiple suspensions for marijuana last season, Hill's future may not be a tenuous as some believe.  Hill's actions aren't the best way to win the affections and loyalty of the Panthers coaching staff either.
