C3 Mock 2.0 RD 2: Picks 57-64
Due to popular demand we are putting out C3 Mock 2.0. This version takes into account the first full week of Free Agency and there has been some movement. Smokewagon is back making his picks along with me in the First Round. We each give insight as to why we think each one makes sense. And as usual, we look at some of these selections from a Panthers Fan point of view, but no matter who you are a fan of, take a look and let us know your thoughts. Mel Mayock's Picks
Cam gets his toy. Parriman is long, and fast. He is 6’2/ 212 and accelerates very quickly. Did not work out at the Combine and his Pro-Day is going to be crucial for him. This date is set for March 25th. Look for the Panthers Offense to explode if this is the pick as he is a big vertical threat. I was tempted to go with RB Jay Ajayi out of Boise St. and I still think that pick makes a lot of sense too.
Chris Canty leaving opens up a need along the Defensive Line. And Ngata has moved on to Detroit to try to be Suh 2.0. Ellis McCarthy is a huge man (6’4/ 340 lbs) and will be a nice piece to fit in to an already dominant defense.
Julius Thomas cashed in in Miami. The TE cutting up the seam and exposing LBs that can’t cover is a central part of what make the Bronco’s so good. Maxx Williams is a big target at 6’5/250 lbs (Cam Newton Big) and ran a solid 4.79 at the Combine. If Thomas isn’t back, look for this to be the pick.
I originally had Danielle Hunter going here, but with Greg Hardy landing in Big D, look for them to take a Corner. And Doran Grant is the best one available. This Ohio State standout is 5’11/192 lbs. and runs a 4.44 40-yard dash.
Corey Redding is out and that leaves a huge void at the DE spot and they can really use some talent upfront to get pressure on opposing QBs. Nate Orchard is talented and can get pressure on the passer.
The ageless Julius Peppers has to start slowing down at some point and Danielle Hunter at 6’6/ 240 is a good project player to put behind him. And he can contribute right away too, but will benefit from a year in the weight room. 25 reps on the bench press isn’t bad, but he’s going to have to beef up a little to hold up against 300 lb. O-lineman coming out after him. But a good pick up at Pick #62 for the Cheese Heads.
23 Free Agents for the Seahawks and their top priority is probably signing Russell Wilson who is not even one of those 23. Adding a first-round talent like Eli to their Front 7 coins the Marty Hurney phrase “keep your strengths strong.”
The World Champs look to continue to bolster that Defense and with Vince Wilfork’s departure, they turn to the big fella out of Washington St. He is a run-stuffer that can fit in right away and help the Defense from taking a step back.
