Carolina Panthers: Fantasy Football Projections Week 15

Another week of fantasy football playoffs down the drain, and I finally lost. No thanks to Peyton Manning and his 2 fantasy points. Both of my running backs were injured this past week, so I had to start Doug "Waste of a Pick" Martin, and Chris "Disappearing Act" Johnson. They got me a combined total of 8 fantasy points. As the fantasy season continues it is harder to win games, because of all the injuries. Could you imagine if the league increased the length of the season? If you are dealing with injuries you need to pay attention to who is going to be the new starter, and cross your fingers that someone else wont pick them up on the waiver wire.

The Carolina Panthers scored a total of 41 points and had 497 total yards of offense against the New Orleans Saints. This Panthers offense has been nonexistent all season, and then all of sudden all the pieces came together against the Saints. Will this team come together again against the 2-11 Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

My Week 15 Projections:

  • Derek Anderson: 16 Pts (215 passing Yards 2 touchdowns)
  • Kelvin Benjamin: 13pts (75 receiving yards, 1 touchdown)
  • Jonathan Stewart: 17 pts (115 rushing yards, 1 touchdown)
  • Greg Olsen: 12 pts (65 receiving yards, 1 touchdown)
  • Philly Brown (Shoulder Injury): 9 pts (30 receiving yards, 1 touchdown)
  • Jerricho Cotchery: 6 pts (60 receiving yards)
  • Panthers Defense: 7 pts

My Week 15 Recommendations:

  • Must Starts: Kelvin Benjamin, Jonathan Stewart, and Greg Olsen
  • 50/50 Start: Panthers Defense
  • Sit: Derek Anderson, Philly Brown, and Jerricho Cotchery

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in last place in the NFC South with a record of 2-11. The Carolina Panthers started the 2014 NFL season of with a victory against the Bucs, and the season looked promising. The Bucs are one of the worst teams in the NFL, and will have a top pick in the next NFL Draft. They rank last in rushing the ball on offense with 78.8 rushing yards per game, and sit at the bottom of the NFL in defense.

Cam Newton was in line to have another big day like the one he had against the New Orleans Saints, but he was in a car accident, and now has two transverse processed fractures. Derek Anderson will most likely be the starter this week. DA knows the system, but hasn't started a game since week one of this season. I would not risk putting DA in your fantasy lineup. Kelvin Benjamin and Greg Olsen are still must starts in my book. They will continue to score double digit fantasy points, and get plenty of red zone targets. Jonathan Stewart is now the primary back with DeAngelo Williams' injured. Stewart has back to back weeks of double digit fantasy points, and this should continue because he will have to carry the load. I would normally recommend putting Philly Brown in the flex position, but he injured his right shoulder. Do not start Philly Brown, the Panthers defense, or Jerricho Cotchery.
