Carolina Panthers: Fantasy Football Projections Week 10

The good thing about Fantasy Football is that you get to pretend that you are the Owner or General Manager of an NFL team. If you need fantasy team help you can go to ESPN, Matthew Barry and possibly me. But you don’t have to listen to us, and can only hold yourself accountable for your own actions. Where am I going with this?

If you are a Panthers fan you most likely want to start a Carolina Panthers player or have a player from the Panthers on your team. This is definitely risky this season. There are only three players that you should have on your team and you shouldn't hold on to a player just because you are a fan if they aren't producing consistently.

The only Panthers players that you should have on your team are Kelvin Benjamin and Greg Olsen. If you have Cam Newton, you should stash him on your bench just in case your quarterback gets injured or still has a bye week coming up.

Which players to start on the Carolina Panthers in week ten:

My Week Ten Projections:

  • Cam Newton: 16 pts (215 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception, 25 rushing yards)
  • Kelvin Benjamin: 16 pts (105 yards, 1 touchdown)
  • Greg Olsen: 12 pts (60 yards, 1 touchdown)
  • Jonathan Stewart: 9 pts (35 rushing yards, 1 touchdown)
  • DeAngelo Williams: 6 pts (65 rushing yards)
  • Jerricho Cotchery: 7 pts (70 yards)
  • Panthers Defense: 8 pts

My Week Ten Recommendations:

Must Start: Kelvin Benjamin (Flex) , Greg Olsen
Sit: Cam Newton, DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, Jerricho Cotchery
Week 10 Breakout Position: Panthers Defense

The Philadelphia Eagles are going to be without their starting quarterback, Nick Foles and their best linebacker DeMeco Ryans on Monday night. Foles suffered an injury to his clavicle and will be out for 6-8 weeks. Ryans injured his Achilles and was placed on the IR. Mark Sanchez will be the starting quarterback on Monday night and we all know about his NFL career. If Sanchez is successful this means two things: anyone can be successful in Chip Kelly’s offense and the Panthers defense is worse than we thought.

The Panthers should be able to score at least 20 points against the Eagles defense and Sanchez should help us with the opportunities from his turnovers. But we still don’t know where the points are going to come from because the Panthers offense doesn't have an identity. Kelvin Benjamin and Greg Olsen should have a big game. I would start Olsen and put Benjamin in your flex position. Olsen and Benjamin have been struggling, but this is the perfect opponent for them to get redemption! The Panthers defense could have a breakout game because of Mark Sanchez and his lack of decision making skills. Stay away from Newton, and the running backs this week.

What were my week nine fantasy football projections?

My Week Nine Projections:

  • Cam Newton: 22 pts (250 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 45 rushing yards)
  • Kelvin Benjamin: 14 pts (85 yards, 1 touchdown)
  • Greg Olsen: 11 pts (55 yards, 1 touchdown)
  • Jonathan Stewart: 10 pts (40 rushing yards, 1 touchdown)
  • DeAngelo Williams: 7 pts (75 rushing yards)
  • Jerricho Cotchery: 7 pts (70 yards)
  • Panthers Defense: 4 pts

Week Nine Results (According to ESPN):

  • Cam Newton: 12 pts (151 passing Yards, 1 interception, 1 fumble/ 43 rushing yards)
  • Kelvin Benjamin: 1 pt (2 receptions, 18 yards)
  • Greg Olsen: 3 pts (3 reception, 30 yards)
  • Jonathan Stewart: 4 pts (8 attempts, 46 rushing yards)
  • DeAngelo Williams: 5 pts (8 attempts, 20 rushing yards, 30 receiving yards)
  • Jerricho Cotchery: 5 pts (2 receptions, 59 yards)
  • Panthers Defense: 6 pts (28 PA, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery)

My Week Nine Review:

The Carolina Panthers battled the New Orleans Saints for the NFC South and lost. If you started anyone on the Panthers in week nine you might have suffered a loss as well. The Panthers offense did a complete 360 to what I expected and did not show up against a Saints defense that struggles against the passing game. Cam Newton was the only player to get double digit fantasy points, the defense finally finished with positive points, and everyone else on offense was just terrible.

Who is going to have a better game: Cam Newton or Mark Sanchez?
